Assault on 2nd Amendment Continues
On Wednesday June, 23rd President Biden and AG Merrick Garland announced a strategy to combat the “staggering surge” in violent crime.” The speech was a vailed attempt to conceal the REAL meaning of the 2nd Amendment, appease the anti-gun groups, and try to stop the bleeding from the “defund the police movement” that seems to be hurting them in the polls.
In the speech, Biden suggests the 2nd Amendment is all about hunting and the way to curb gun violence is to enact a “ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.” He states, “no one needs to have a weapon that can fire over 30, 40, 50, even up to 100 rounds unless you think the deer are wearing Kevlar vests or something.” He then goes on in a false, and somewhat incoherent, statement to suggest the 2nd Amendment has always had limitations and that there is no way patriots could resist an oppressive government. The exact quote is as follows:
“The Second Amendment, from the day it was passed, limited the type of people who could own a gun and what type of weapon you could own. You couldn’t buy a cannon. Those who say the blood of lib- — “the blood of patriots,” you know, and all the stuff about how we’re going to have to move against the government. Well, the tree of liberty is not watered with the blood of patriots. What’s happened is that there have never been — if you wanted or if you think you need to have weapons to take on the government, you need F-15s and maybe some nuclear weapons.”
A quick google search on “Build your own cannon” shows that our very own National Park Service has information about private citizens building and owning cannons for self-defense. Not only were Americans allowed to build and possess military style weapons, the whole purpose of the 2nd Amendment was to guard against an oppressive government. In January 1788, James Madison wrote Federalist Papers #46. In it, he even suggests limitations on the size of the Federal Military so that the standing military, controlled by the Federal Government, should be kept under a maximum of 30,000 troops. His calculations indicated this would be sufficient to defend America against other nations, but not enough to oppress the states. The Paper goes on to state ” Besides the advantage of being armed, which the Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation, the existence of subordinate governments, to which the people are attached, and by which the militia officers are appointed, forms a barrier against the enterprises of ambition, more insurmountable than any which a simple government of any form can admit of.” Clearly the Founding Fathers intended the 2nd Amendment to be a barrier against an overreach by the Federal Government.
However, Biden ignored this and continued to double down on proposed ATF regulations for “ghost guns” and “pistol stabilizing braces” as a ruse to help prevent violent crime. The facts show banning assault weapons, ghost guns and stabilizing braces will DO NOTHING to bring down violent crime. The only thing that is going to protect YOU from being a victim of a violent crime is YOU, and your ability to keep and bear arms! This speech made it clear that James Madison was correct when he stated “governments are afraid to trust the people with arms.”

For years the news media has been trying to obscure the facts and change the narrative on the true meaning of the 2nd Amendment. Now the media, in conjunction with the Biden Administration, are trying to chip away at our rights. In addition to the efforts announced on June 23rd, the Biden Administration is still trying to push through David Chipman as the director of the ATF that sets firearms policy. Chipman not only is in favor banning so called “assault weapons” he is also a former paid employee of the Giffords Anti-gun group. This would be a disaster to the 2nd Amendment.
