Two Wins For Gun Rights!
On September 9th the Biden Administration withdrew the nomination of David Chipman to lead the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearm (ATF). Chipman was a controversial pick to lead the ATF because of his reported involvement in the Waco, Texas incident in 1993, as well as controversial statements he has made about banning certain guns and his employment with the Gifford’s Anti-gun organization. While the gun rights community may have dodged a bullet for now, you can bet the anti-gun groups and the Biden administration won’t give up.
Supreme Court to Hear Important 2nd Amendment Case
On November 3rd, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear one of the most important cases in more than a decade. Two of the most important cases include the 2008 District of Columbia v. Heller and the 2010 McDonald v. Chicago in which the Courts were deciding on whether the Second Amendment provides an individual right to own and bear arms and to keep firearms in their homes for self-protection. In this case (New York State Rifle & Pistol Association Inc. v. City of New York) the court will decide on whether the Constitution guarantees the right to carry guns outside the home. This case could have a wide ranging impact on individual carry laws in each state and may help set the stage for National Concealed Carry Reciprocity!
