The Lakewood Church Shooting, Kansas City Superbowl Celebration Shooting, and UGA Murder
February 2024 had several news stories that seem unrelated, but share lessons that are interrelated. The Lakewood Church Shooting was an active shooter situation that was stopped by off duty police officers. There is more about this incident in our Training Tips section. The Kansas City Superbowl celebration shooting was group of criminals who opened fire without regard to innocent bystanders. The University of Georgia nursing student was violently murdered by an illegal immigrant with a long wrap sheet.
While these may seem unrelated, they are examples of a broader problem and share similar solutions. All three incidents were conducted by individuals who have very little, if any, respect for life. Their moral and ethical concerns are non-existent. The couldn’t care less how many or who they injured or killed. If you found yourself in the midst of a similar situation, the only option for you to respond would be to 1) Have your firearm on you, and 2) Posses the skills to respond to protect yourself without potentially injuring more innocent bystanders.
The choice is yours! You can complain about the politicians and policies that may have led up to these issues, or you can prepare by investing in education and training. You may never find yourself facing a life or death situation, but if you do, you WILL NOT regret being prepared.
